11/26/2005: "THE “BEST “ BLOG WEEKEND by Chris Folino"

BEST EXCUSE FROM AN AGENT ON WHY THEIR ACTOR WOULDN’T APPEAR IN “GAMERS”

“It’s not the right material for my client” –Gary Coleman’s agent

“My client’s not interested in appearing in a film that pays more to the camera rental house than my client”. –Jay Mohr’s agent

“Phoebe Kates has retired from acting and the script really didn’t provoke her to want to return”. –Associates of Mrs. Kline

BEST MOMENTS WHILE FILMING

The last day of shooting on 35mm was the studio scene with Kevin Sherwood and my favorite moment was saying “It’s a wrap!” and looking over at Kevin and smiling.
We waited twenty some odd years to make a real movie, we started together at Bishop Amat High School in 1986 so it was a great feeling to get that monkey off our backs.

Other highlights included

Watching the main five actors work together, they’re that good of actors that you believe they have been friends for over twenty years.

Having our high school principal continue the streak of always appearing in our movies, no matter how big or small the part is.

Shooting the Jesus scene and hearing Tito crack up, that was a good time. We are re-editing the scene again to make sure it flows better.

BEST EXPERIENCE EDITING THE MOVIE

I love seeing all the graphics get added. The animated dice that Colacioppo did was awesome and everything he and Pieper have done for special effects is sweet.
Fernando adding the porn music while John and Beverly talk was awesome.
Adding the new scenes and moving stuff around is a blast too, it’s giving the movie a
solid chance to be a cult classic.

BEST COMMENT ABOUT THE MOVIE
“Gamers is funny both for the guys hanging out and for big comedy bits that go far beyond wrong into “Oh, god, they’re not really…oh, god, they are!!” I don’t know if it’s writing, direction, or acting, maybe all three, but the best part of it all is not a scene feels forced. Gamers barrels over the line without even snickering, deadpanning hilariously wrong things and then moving on to the next scene without a wink.” –Shannon “Vandemar” Drake from www.warcry.com

BEST FAN EMAIL

“My D&D party has been together for over 15 years and have waited for a film
like this to be made. We have a diverse group of players, a lawyer, an FBI
agent, a construction worker, a pipe fitter, a professor, and a business owner.
This movie looks like something we will all enjoy as a group and laugh
about for a long time. Thank you for making this film. When will it be released
on the big screen or available on DVD? -Gape
