11/25/2005: "Film Festival Deadlines by Chris Folino"

I think the top two questions everyone asks me now are;

1. What are the odds of getting the film into a festival?
2. When do you find out about the film festivals?

Well, here are the dates of Notification for Film Festivals.

Sundance –The original notification was November 28th -30th.
The 28th will be the announcement for Competition and the 30th will be for
Special Screenings and Midnights Showings

However, from what we are hearing it may be Dec 2nd or even delayed
By a week.

Slamdance –December 6th, 2005

Equally as huge as Sundance and even statistically harder to get in.

Palm Springs –December 15th, 2005

Every festival listed here is “huge”.

Santa Barbara Film Festival –Starts February –Hopeful to hear by late December
Early January.

Berlin Film Festival –Starts in February, should hear back by January

U.S. Comedy Arts Festival –Not sure of date of notification
The festival starts in March

South by Southwest –Starts in March, we are submitting this week to the
Film to the festival with a new cut. Our best cut of the film yet.

So where are we at with the film?

This is the month we get a film print of the movie, shoot some more scenes
And finalize audio. It’s a busy time and its exciting and very nerve
racking!

We do plan on entering a lot more festivals. However, if we can get into any
of the festival listed above it will be “life changing.”

And my answer to “What are the chances of the “Gamers” getting into any
Festivals?”

I don’t have a clue. The odds are very low, However, what in life gives you great odds?
I’m hopeful, we are really proud of the movie. Ninety-five percent of the entire film is shot on 35MM and it looks clean and professional.
It has great acting and I hope the script is original enough. We are tightening up the
film and hope to shoot some new scenes to make it a great comedy.
